🇺🇸 Words are good food. They feed our mind just like seeds and fruits can feed our body. If a picture is worth a thousand words, it’s just because it can show thousand of details that only words can describe. Different from the body’s metabolism, our mind eats and processes words and never gets full of them.
Another powerful thing about words is that although they’re abstract, they give us a very solid and concrete reality. Today I’m going to combine both in just one word: CHOCOLATE. We don’t consider chocolate as a word, because it’s so good that we can feel satisfied only with its taste. Chocolate is so good that people created a bitter version of it (dark chocolate) and people still love it and eat it like crazy!
The origin of the word chocolate comes from the Nahuatl, the Aztecan culture. The meaning of the word is still debated, but one thing is sure: chocolate comes from cacao beans. The word is chicolātl, which means “bitter water”. The natives of Mexico welcomed the Spanish with the beverage make of cold water and cacao powder, made with a beating stick. There’s a version that relate to the Mayan culture, where the drink was served with hot water. Both cultures related the chocolate beverage with human sacrifice. The Spanish took chocolate to Europe in the 16th century and the rest is a history that will never end.
Today, chocolate is considered one of the sweetest things in the world, although it started out as bitter. You might prefer not to eat chocolate, but remember that even bitter things can be turned into sweets.

🇧🇷 Palavras são como comida. Alimentam nossa mente como sementes e frutos alimentam o corpo. Se uma imagem vale mais que mil palavras, é só porque os milhares de detalhes que mostra só podem ser descritos com palavras. A mente come e processa as palavras sem nunca se empanturrar delas.
Outra coisa interessante das palavras é que elas tanto podem ser abstratas quanto concretas e sólidas. Hoje vou combinar os dois aspectos em uma palavra: CHOCOLATE. Não consideramos o aspecto de ser uma palavra, porque é tão gostoso que nos sentimos satisfeitos só com o gosto. Chocolate é tão bom que inventaram a versão amarga dele e mesmo assim as pessoas amam e comem feito doidos!
A origem da palavra chocolate vem do Nahuatl, da cultura asteca. O significado ainda é debatido, mas uma coisa é certa: chocolate vem da semente do cacau. A palavra chicolātl, significa “água amarga”. Os nativos do México receberam os espanhóis com uma bebida feita de água fria e pó do cacau, que era moído com um pedaço de pau. Existe uma versão relacionada com a cultura maia, onde a bebida era servida com água quente. Ambas culturas relacionavam a bebida chocolate com sacrifício humano. Os espanhóis levaram chocolate para a Europa no Século 16 e o resto todos nós já sabemos no que deu.
Hoje, chocolate é considerado uma das coisas mais doces, embora seja amarga em sua origem. Você pode preferir não comer chocolate, mas lembre que mesmo coisas amargas podem se tornar doces.
