🇺🇸 It’s amazing the power of the soil! It gives strength to the seed to grow until its full potential. Who plants, knows that once the soil is revolved and its nutrients are refilled it’s ready to a new harvest. Words grow as seeds in the soil of the mind. Our mind needs to be renewed too, to continue to do amazing things.
We can scatter seed over the same soil, same way we can redo thing over and over in life. We call this OVERLAPPING, the today’s word. The origin comes from the proto-germanic ubar, “above, superior” and lappô, also from proto-germanic, that means “piece of cloth, garment”, like an apron. Lappô was a loose part of a coat, like a flap, worn over the clothes. So overlapping was to give another turn with that flap around the body. Is to do a thing over something done before.
When a racer completes a turn over the start line it’s an overlap. When we cover a space with something, we’re overlapping. When we find that we have something in common with someone else it’s because we overlapped at that point. Overlapping is related with a lot of things in life. It’s not only about the clothes that we wear. It’s about moving on when bad situations happen, it’s about to give a new look to something old, it’s about how we build and improve our relationships. It’s related with our ability to overcome our own potential. It’s not giving up, but keep moving forward to make it better than before.
When we note that we’re turning around the same point, it’s time to ask ourselves: Am I leaning here? If the answer is “yes”, good you’re growing. If it’s “no”, try to start giving laps over something else.

🇧🇷 É incrível como o solo tem poder! Ele dá força para a semente crescer em todo seu potencial. Quem planta sabe que quando o solo é arado e os nutrientes repostos, ele está pronto pra outro plantio. Palavras crescem como sementes na mente, que precisa ser renovada para fazer grandes coisas.
Podemos espalhar sementes pelo mesmo solo, assim como podemos refazer mesmas coisas na vida. Isso é SOBREPOR, a palavra de hoje. Origem latina, “sobre” vem de super, “acima” e “pôr”, nesse caso, vem de pōnere, “colocar, posicionar”. O interessante desta palavra é o amplo sentido que ela ganha por causa do termo “super” que vem do grego ek, “fora” e hupér, “acima”. Algo que ultrapassa.
Existem três maneiras de entendermos sobrepor. Primeiro, é algo que é colocado em cima de outra coisa, como uma pilha de pratos. Segundo, é algo cobre outra coisa, como um papel de parede que esconde a pintura. Terceiro, é algo que supera outra coisa. Se torna maior, melhor e faz com que aquilo que foi superado seja desconsiderado, como quando um recorde é quebrado. Em tudo, sobrepor tem a ver com a vida. Na vida ajuntamos, como pratos guardados uns sobre os outros. Renovamos, como dar uma aparência nova no ambiente. E, em especial, seguimos em frente, superando o que já passou.
Na vida, chegam momentos em que pensamos em mudanças. Nesses momentos é muito importante saber o que e como sobrepor. Mudar pra ficar igual não adianta, o bom é ir além de onde estamos.
