After we got used to send text messages technology is always giving us a better way to keep doing what we usually do. Audio messages are one of the new way to improve our personal communication.
Most used messages apps now have this feature of speeding up audio messages. There are three options: 1x (normal speed), 1.5x and 2x. Now we can accelerate our communication. Is it ironic? We accept a form to become able to share and connect to each other enjoying the privilege of being in contact with people everywhere, but we can’t stand of listening to them for more than two minutes!
I’m not against technology, but there are few things we should care a little bit more. What kind of excuse could be justifiable for not being able to listen to a person for 2 or 3 minutes? Are we showing consideration? What kind of relationships are we developing this way? Are we training ourselves to become a better listeners, showing others how much we care? Soon we will start to do this personally, kind of starting to look for buttons to accelerate what the person is trying to tell us.
Seriously, let’s rethink this feature. It's more than people’s feelings and needs, it's about people! Let’s give them two, three minutes. If we can't give them a least that, maybe it is time for us to decelerate our life.

Não sou contra a tecnologia, mas temos que cuidar com algumas coisas. Que tipo de desculpa seria justificável para não ter condições de ouvir uma pessoa por 2 ou 3 minutos? É assim que mostramos consideração? Que tipo de relações estamos construindo? Estamos nos treinando para ser melhores ouvintes, mostrando aos outros que nos importamos? Logo vamos querer fazer isso pessoalmente, tipo ficar procurando por um botão para fazer a pessoa falar mais rápido o que está tentando nos dizer.
Sério, vamos repensar esse recurso. É mais do que sentimentos e necessidades, se trata das pessoas! Vamos dar a elas 2, 3 minutos. Se não pudermos fazer isso, talvez seja hora de desaceleramos a vida.

🇺🇸 A lot of people are not familiarized with the concept of eating meal paid-by-pound. It’s a very interest concept to have a nice meal and not worry if you paid too much for the food you ate. There’s some situation where at the beginning is wonderful, but after eating you feel like you paid more that you ate.
This concept of pay-per-pound buffet was invented in Brazil and became very popular there. In Brazilian culture the meal, specially lunch time, is a special occasion. Brazilians can’t live with the idea of “food was't enough”. Tables must to be full of every kind of food and people must eat as much as they can handle and there’d be always someone asking you to eat “a little bit more” and giving you a portion to go.
The problem is that an all-you-can-eat buffet is expensive, because there’s a lot of wasting and the owner has to add that in the price and most of the people is not crazy hungry to eat all. So someone in somewhere came up with this very creative idea of you put what is enough for you in your plate, weight it and pay for the proportion. If you eat more you pay more, if less you pay less. Everybody wins. Some people consider life as a competition, which isn’t. Life is sharing, because someone’s defeat can mean something bad even for the winner. If you’re looking for a better way of living, win-win is the way.
That’s possible, but is difficult. When we have a big plate in our hands we have the temptation to fill every inch of it with food. Like being in front a buffet, win-win requires us to give up some food we don’t need.

🇧🇷 Fora do Brasil as pessoas não estão muito familiarizadas com a idéia de comer comida por quilo. Pelo menos não nos Estados Unidos. Acho que é uma questão mais de cultura mesmo. Alguns se familiarizam mais fácil, enquanto outros resistem. A idéia é muito boa e deixa uma sensação de justiça.
Não sei dizer quem inventou nem onde foi inventado, mas no pouco que pesquisei deu pra notar que é algo realmente relacionado com a cultura brasileira. Essa coisa que brasileiros têm de fartura na hora da refeição, de que é melhor sobrar do que faltar. Pagar por quilo ajuda a aliviar a sensação não tão agradável que se tem quando, depois de pagar a conta, pensar que pagou bem mais do que comeu.
O problema com os serviços de buffet é o desperdício de comida. No final a comida que não se come tem que ser incluída no preço também. Nem todo mundo come “feito um condenado” pra fazer valer tudo que pagou. Já pra quem come pouco não compensa. Nessa caso, tranquiliza a cabeça de todo mundo, por saber que o que foi pago foi proporcional ao que se comeu. Todo mundo sai ganhando. Alguns consideram a vida como uma competição, mas não é. Viver é partilhar, porque a derrota de alguém pode também causar mal ao vencedor. Pra quem quer uma maneira melhor de viver, “ganha-ganha” é opção.
É possível, mas é difícil. Quando temos um prato grande nas mãos somos tentados a encher ele com comida. Como estar diante de um buffet, ganha-ganha requer abrir mão da comida que não precisamos.

🇺🇸 Have you ever heard about a chevrotain? Do you know what it is? I’ve heard for the first time today, the day I’m writing this text. Chevrotain is an animal, a mammal, from the Tragulidae family, which are the animals with hooves. The chevrotain’s appearance is like a mix of a deer with a mouse and they’re tiny.
In fact chevrotains are the smallest hoofed animals in the world. Its natural habitat is in south and southeast Asia, most common in Vietnam. The silver-backed chevrotain was practically considered extinct, due to the last time a specimen was seen is 25 years ago. Now a small group os silver-backed chevrotains was photographed in Vietnam, which was a great reason of joy for the environmental groups.
It’s hard to live in a world where the dominant specie is responsible for most of the destruction in the planet. Human beings are killing, devastating, eliminating forms of life with the minimum consideration possible. All the efforts that have been done for environmental organizations are totally worth, although for some many species it’s just not enough. But when something, like the reappearance of the silver-backed chevrotain, happens make all the efforts worthy. Isn’t how you feel when you meet with a loved friend again, after many years without seeing that friend? It’s a great pleasure to find something that was lost.
Losses are always bringing sorrow to our life. Some losses kill hope. But as a chevrotain can reappear, hope can also be raised again in our heart. When we keep hope, we make ourselves open to surprises.

🇧🇷 Você já ouviu sobre chevrotains? Sabe o que é? A primeira vez que ouvir sobre eles foi hoje, o dia que estou escrevendo este texto. Chevrotain é um animal, mamífero, da família Tragulidae, que são animais com casco. A aparência do chevrotain é de uma mistura de veado com rato e são bem pequenos.
Na verdade são os menores animais com casco no mundo. Seu habitat natural é o sul e sudeste da Ásia, mais em comum no Vietnã. O chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas era praticamente considerados extintos, pelo fato do último espécime ter sido visto ha 25 anos. Agora um pequeno grupo de chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas foi fotografado no Vietnã, o que se tornou motivo de muito alegria para ambientalistas.
É difícil viver num mundo onde a espécie predominante é responsável pela maior parte da destruição do planeta. Seres humanos estão matando, devastando e eliminante formas de vida com o mínimo de consideração possível. Todos esforços feitos por organizações ambientalistas são válidos, embora para algumas espécies não suficiente. Mas quando algo, como o reaparecimento do chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas, acontece, torna todos esforços válidos. Não é como você se sente quando reencontra uma pessoa querida depois de muitos anos sem vê-la? É uma grande alegria reencontrar algo que se perdeu.
Perdas entristecem nossa vida. Algumas matam a esperança. Assim como chevrotain reapareceu, a esperança pode ressurgir no coração. Quando mantemos a esperança, nos abrimos para surpresas.

🇺🇸 Words will bring a result. I believe in words. Have you gone through the experience fo hearing someone saying something to you and that word keeps echoing inside your mind? It’s their power for transforming. Just like a seed in the soil. The life echoes underground making the seed be transformed into a new life.
It can be in nature and in grammar, life has its cycles with highs and lows, good and bad, giving the excitement and shaping life with variety and surprises. Since our birth we experience constantly transformation in every aspect, physical, mental, cultural, emotional, relational. I think if it were different life would be so boring and unhappy. What makes life amazing is that it’s not flat, not like a plate.
PLATE is today’s word. The meaning is very simple. The origin is greek and means “flat”. That’s easy to understand. What’s also easy to understand is that would be horrible to eat in an uneven surface. How would we scoop the soup, or eat rice with a fork? No chance. So, sometimes we need a stable, regular, plain in life. I love a roller coaster, but not much more than 40 seconds. I can have fun ridding up and down, but I would be safe stepping my feet on an even ground. And that’s how we can enjoy life even more, going through all its levels and experiences. Excitement, stability and continuity.
Even plates are not totally boring and flat. There’s soups plates, bowls, desserts. Plates in different shapes, sizes and colors. Life can be the same, we can make something different out of everything.

🇧🇷 Palavras vão dar resultado. Acredito nas palavras. Já aconteceu de alguém falar algo pra você e as palavras ficarem ecoando na sua mente? Esse é o poder de transformação que as palavras têm. Como sementes no solo. A vida ecoa debaixo da terra fazendo a semente se transformar em nova vida.
Pode ser na natureza e na gramática, a vida tem os ciclos com altos e baixos, bom e ruim, criando empolgação e dando formas variadas e surpreendentes. Desde nosso nascimento experimentamos constante transformação em todos aspectos, físico, mental, cultural, emocional e relacional. Se fosse diferente ia ser muito chato. O que torna a vida feliz é que ela não é chata, como é um prato.
PRATO é a palavra de hoje. O significado é simples. A origem é grega e significa “chato, plano”. Fácil de entender. Também é fácil de entender que seria horrível comer numa superfície irregular. Como pegaríamos a sopa com a colher ou arroz com o garfo? Sem chance. Às vezes precisamos algo estável, regular, plano na vida. Amo montanha russa, mas não mais do que por 40 segundos. Posso me divertir indo pra cima e pra baixo, mas só me sinto mais seguro com os pés no chão. É assim que curtimos a vida ainda mais, passando por todas os níveis e experiências. Empolgação, estabilidade e continuidade.
Mas pratos não são tão chatos assim. Têm os pratos fundos, de sobremesa, tigelas. Com formas, cores e tamanhos diferentes. A vida é assim também, podemos fazer algo diferente de tudo.

🇺🇸 One of the greatest success of our time is the smartphone. We can compare it to the success of the wrist watch or the TV: Almost everyone has one! Every day we find out new things to do with them, some totally unnecessary, some extremely useful. And people are still debating about its overuse.
In fact what made smartphones a such success wasn’t the device by itself. It was when Apple released the SDK Kit in 2008. With it people could create apps and apply them to the use of the smartphone, in that case the iPhone. It was the boom that burst the sales and made people to fall in love for smartphones, once it created connection with situations and needs in life. Then the App Store came…
Well, we all know what happened after that. Only in 2018 the number of app downloads was 194 billion. There are 4.8 million different types of apps available for both Android and iOS. Apple made success out of it with the slogan: “There's an app for that”. It’s not only about games and social medias with fancy features for your photos, we’re talking about help with medical procedures, special needs, learning, commerce, unlimited possibilities. And a lot of free options. So downloading apps become the easiest way to add things to life. It creates the feeling that by the touch of the finger tip, our life can be better.
That’s the purpose of life, right? To find happiness. What do you think about happiness? Is it easy to get? What are you doing every day to get closer to it? Oh, you do have an account on the app store. So…?

🇧🇷 Um dos maiores sucessos de nosso tempo é o smartphone. Podemos comparar ao relógio de pulso e à TV: Quase todo mundo tem um! Cada dia descobrimos novas cosias pra fazer com eles, algumas desnecessárias, outras super úteis. E as pessoas ainda estão debatendo sobre o uso exagerado deles.
Na verdade o que fez os smartphones terem tanto sucesso não foi o aparelho em si. Foi quando a Apple lançou o Kit SDK em 2008. 🇺🇸 One of the things I like about words is that they are not finished. There’s still a possibility to a new word being adopt, according to the need. Usually a new word comes from a naming an action that became popular or common or adopting a local version of that word from another language.
It’s a process related to production, growth, that’s why words have everything to do with a plantation. And even more! Words are related to life and everyone of them gives birth to a special meaning and purpose. Just like a new life. That’s the reason today’s word is CHILD. Being named, adopted, grown, generated, all related to words and related to child as well. Two of the most precious treasures in this world.
The word child comes from the Old English cild, “fetus”, which comes from the Proto-germanic kiltham, which means “womb”. In fact this expression kiltham means literally “child home”. A child is completely connected with life, but in special the begin of life. Not a life that appears from nothing, at once, but a life that’s been cared, cherished, protected, nurtured and expected. Everybody loves the birth of a child, to see a child growing. As they grow they can bring new perspective to every aspect of life. New discoveries, new sensations, new ideas, new actions. They are responsible for most of changes in the world.
A child is the best representation of live. The only difference is that, in life we can be reborn anytime. Sometimes we simply forget how amazing is the privilege of being alive!

🇧🇷 Uma das coisas que gosto sobre palavras é que elas não esgotam. Sempre existe a possibilidade de uma nova palavra surgir ou ser adotada. Normalmente uma nova palavra vem de nomear uma ação popular e comum, ou adotada de outra língua na versão local. Exemplo: empoderamento.
É um processo ligado à produção, crescimento, por isso palavras têm tudo a ver com plantação. E ainda mais! Palavras têm a ver com vida e cada uma delas da vida a significados e propósitos especiais. Assim como uma nova vida. Por isso a palavra de hoje é CRIANÇA. Sendo nomeada, adotada, crescendo, gerando, tudo tem a ver com palavras e com criança também. Dois dos mais preciosos tesouros.
A palavra criança vem do latim e é a junção de dois termos: creare, “criar” e antia, que é um sufixo que indica um estado, uma condição de ação. Portanto, criança tem o sentido de algo que foi criado e que permanece num processo dinâmico e constante, como uma criação contínua. Não se trata de um ato momentâneo, instantâneo, mas algo que é cuidado, amparado, protegido, nutrido e esperado. Todos amam o nascimento de um bebê, ver uma criança crescer. À medida que crescem dão nova perspectiva a cada aspecto da vida. Elas são responsáveis pela maioria das mudanças no mundo.
Uma criança é a melhor representação da vida. A única diferença é que, na vida podemos renascer qualquer momento. Às vezes simplesmente esquecemos quão incrível é o privilégio de viver!

🇺🇸 Safety is the most important issue when people think about traffic. Vehicles, laws, procedures are made to guarantee that pedestrians, drivers and passengers have the best safety conditions so they can walk and drive in peace with the assurance they will get to the destiny they’re heading for.
Numbers show the tragic results in traffic every year. Like, 30% of pedestrians deaths in traffic occurred with those not using the crosswalk, while 37% of deaths were because no crosswalk was provided at the location and 10% of the deaths occurred with pedestrians crossing on the crosswalk. Pedestrians who are in most risk are younger than 16 and older than 45.
The crosswalk is there, it’s not an obligation, it’s a safety recommendation. That’s why people feel it’s their option to use it or not. I think everybody have crossed a street out of the crosswalk once or twice at least. If you out of it, you’re under more risk. If you’re in it, doesn’t mean you’re 100% safe. If you use it, it’s good, if you don’t, nobody will condemn you for that. It’s like to live in this world. You’re here and you gonna make your decisions. If your choices put you on risk your chances to bad things happen will be higher. If you go for safety, there’s still a chance for bad things happen to you too. The crossroad will still be there, so you can think and decide what’s the best decision you’ll make to yourself.
Free will is not about God, or punishment, or reward. We have to face that we’re in charge of the choices. It’s about what do we want to ourselves. Things will always happen while we’re crossing through life.

🇧🇷 Segurança é o mais importante ponto quando pensamos em tráfego. Veículos, leis, procedimentos são feitos para garantir que pedestres, motoristas e passageiros tenham condições de caminhar e dirigir em paz para chegarem sãos e salvos ao destino para onde estão indo.
Números mostram trágicos resultados no tráfego cada ano. Das mortes de pedestres, 30% foram por não usarem a faixa de pedestre, enquanto que 37% das mortes ocorreram em lugares que não havia faixa disponível no local e 10% das mortes ocorreram com pedestres cruzando na faixa. Pedestres com menos de 16 e mais de 45 anos são os que estão em maior risco.
A faixa de pedestre está lá, mas não é obrigatório, é uma recomendação. Por isso as pessoas acham que usa-lá é uma questão de opção. Acho que todo mundo já atravessou a rua fora da faixa uma vez ou outra. Se não usa, seu risco é maior. Se usa, não quer dizer que está 100% seguro. Se você usa, é bom e se não usa, ninguém vai condenar você. É como viver neste mundo. Você está aqui e vai tomar decisões. Se seus escolhas colocarem você em risco terá mais chances de coisas ruins acontecerem. Se escolher por segurança, ainda vai ter a chance de coisas ruins acontecerem. A faixa de pedestre vai estar lá, assim você pode pensar e escolher qual a melhor decisão para você.
Livre arbítrio não tem a ver com Deus, ou castigo, ou recompensa. Somos nós que estamos em cargo daquilo que queremos para nós mesmos. Coisas sempre vão acontecer enquanto cruzamos pela vida.
