🇺🇸 We leave in a more and more scared world. Each movement made can raise suspiciousness and reactions. Check-point securities, X-Ray screening machines, metal detectors, security procedures for one hand offer safety, on the other hand expose how threatened it seems that we are anywhere.
A passenger was removed from an airplane in Atlanta airport, causing a fight delayed. In fact, she was removed from the airport too. She was sitting in a seat that other passenger claimed the seat. The flight attendants came to solve the situation and asked the lady for her boarding pass. She said she had thrown out the boarding pass and had forgotten her ID at home. After that the security come and removed her.
When this news was reported there was no further information about how that happened. Nobody could explain how she could pass through the security check point and through the boarding without any documentation. Now authorities are expecting for the FBI getting involved in the case. For sure this will raise the bar for the concerns about security, specially in the airports. Unless it’s something planned for testing the level of the security, which proves that something is not working totally good, I think we can expect for more rigor when security issues were necessary. What else could we expect?
Things like that happen in the personal level of life too. Things we let scape from our attention and turn into not good surprises. It can happen once, but we have to raise some flag if it’s happening always.

🇧🇷 Vivemos num mundo cada vez mais assustador. Cada movimento feito pode levantar suspeita e reações. Check-in de segurança, máquinas de Raio-X, detectores de metal, procedimentos de segurança nos oferecem segurança por um lado, mas por outro expõem as ameaças que nos cercam em todo lugar.
Uma passageira foi removida do avião no aeroporto de Atlanta, atrasando o vôo. Na verdade, ela foi removida do aeroporto também. Ela estava sentada numa poltrona que outro passageiro disse ser sua. Os comissários de bordo pediram à mulher que mostrasse cartão de embarque, mas ela disse que tinha jogado fora e que tinha deixado a identidade em casa. A equipe de segurança chegou e levou ela dali.
Quando essa notícia foi veiculada não haviam mais informações sobre como isso aconteceu. Ninguém pode explicar como ela passou pelo check-in de segurança e embarcou no avião sem nenhuma documentação. Agora autoridades esperam a ação do FBI no caso. Com certeza isso vai elevar o nível das preocupações com segurança, especialmente nos aeroportos. A menos que tenha sido algo planejado para testar a segurança, o que prova que algo não está funcionando 100%, acho que podemos esperar por mais rigor quando envolver segurança. O que mais poderá acontecer?
Situações assim podem acontecer na vida pessoal. Deixamos passar coisas da nossa atenção e se tornam em problemas. Pode acontecer uma vez, mas temos que criar um alerta se acontecem sempre.

🇺🇸 For those who want to be in a top position of influence, making decisions would be one of the top abilities required. We all know that everyone has to make decisions, but leaders are also responsible for making decisions on for other people. This is tough, but the higher the responsibility, the higher the motivation.
Of course this involves motivation. That’s why the decision making process starts before the moment of the decision. It starts when those who are in the leadership level create a set of criteria to guide them when it comes to make a decision. Criteria are standards or rules that that establish the directions for our decisions. There’s a lot of pressure in that moment and having a guidance will make the process easier.
It’s like when you go to the airport to catch a flight. First you have to go through the security checkpoint process. Before you go through, you know there’s a lot of procedures and rules to follow. The security staff doesn’t go person by person deciding what to do case by case. They use criteria to determine who’s passing right through and who’s staying for a personal screening. One time my mom distractedly put a bottle of olive oil in her hand bag and of course they didn’t allow her to pass with it. It was easy to make that decision. That’s how important is to have pre standards guiding leaders on their decisions.
Of course, the leader can also have the ability to make right personal decisions, but can you imagine if the security staff had to decide what to do on every passenger stand in the security checkpoint line?

🇧🇷 Para os que desejam estar numa posição de influência, tomar decisões é uma das principais qualidades requeridas. Sabemos que todos tomam decisões, mas líderes também são responsáveis por tomarem decisões pelos outros. Isso é complicado, mas quanto maior a responsabilidade, maior a motivação.
Claro que envolve motivação! Por isso o processo de tomada de decisões começa antes do momento da decisão. Começa quando os que estão na posição de liderança criam critérios para guiarem eles no momento de tomar uma decisão. Critérios são padrões ou regras que estabelecem uma direção para nossas decisões. Existe muita pressão nesse momento e ter uma orientação torna o processo mais fácil.
É como quando você vai ao aeroporto pegar um avião. Primeiro tem que passar pelo check-in de segurança. Antes de passar por ele, você sabe que existem procedimentos e regras a seguir. A equipe de segurança não vai de pessoa em pessoa decidindo o que fazer. Eles usam critérios para determinar que vai passar direto e quem vai ficar para uma checagem mais detalhada. Uma vez minha mãe distraidamente colocou um vidro de azeite na bagagem de mão e é claro que ela não pode passar com ele. Foi fácil pra eles decidirem. Essa é a importância de ter critérios para guiar líderes nas decisões.
Claro que o líder também tem sua habilidade de tomar decisões pessoais, mas imagina o que seria se os seguranças tivessem que decidir o que fazer com cada passageiro na fila do check-in de segurança?
