🇺🇸 It happened to me twice. I got an error message from my printer saying that its work life was over and the printer stopped to work. The message told me to get in touch with the costumer service. I did and they said that to fix the printer it’d cost me the price of a new one. I didn’t accept it. That was the first printer.
Once I liked that printer I decided to buy another one, same model. I reached on eBay for an used one. Then I saw someone selling a “Kit to Install” the printer. USB printers don’t need installation kit. Searching a little more, I ended up finding a “way” to reset the printer. I had to turn it on pressing some buttons at the same time and… voilà! It started to work again perfectly. Later, I read that’s a bug from the manufacturer.
Recently it happened again. Because it’s a different model I had to search again until I find a “way” to make the printer to work again. On one hand it’s relieving, because I didn’t have to spend anything to make the printer to work again. On the other hand, it’s a little frustrating, because it was a problem that there was no need to have it. It seemed that, intentionally, someone wanted to make me go through some hard time and I had to deal with it. Don’t think this happens only with products we buy, this happens in life too. Situations when we are harmed intentionally and we have to find the solutions by ourselves.
Nobody likes to go through situations like that. Resetting a printer that stopped to work can be easier than going through bad actions done against you, but believe me, the solution can be easier than you think.

🇧🇷 Já me aconteceu duas vezes. Uma mensagem de “erro” da impressora dizendo que seu tempo de vida acabou e ela parou de funcionar. A mensagem dizia pra contactar a assistência técnica. Eu fiz e para consertar iria custar o preço de uma impressora nova. Não aceitei. Isso foi com a primeira impressora.
Como eu gostava da impressora, resolvi comprar outra igual. Pesquisei no eBay por uma usada. Então vi alguém vendendo um “kit de instalação” para a impressora. Impressoras de USB não precisam disso. Pesquisei e descobri um jeito de reiniciar a impressora. Tive que religar apertando alguns botões ao mesmo tempo e voilà! Funcionou de novo perfeitamente. Li que é um “bug" que o fabricante coloca.
Recentemente aconteceu de novo. Como agora é um modelo diferente tive que procurar de novo pelo jeito de fazer funcionar. Por um lado é um alívio, porque não precisei gastar nada para consertar a impressora. Por outro lado, é frustrante saber que foi um problema que não precisaria estar passando. Pelo jeito, alguém, intencionalmente, quis me fazer passar pela dificuldade e tive que lidar com aquilo. Não pense que isso acontece só com produtos que compramos. Acontece também na vida. Situações em que somos propositalmente prejudicados e temos que achar a solução por nós mesmos.
Ninguém gosta de passar por isso. Consertar uma impressora que parou de funcionar pode ser mais fácil do que passar por más ações contra você, mas acredite, a solução pode ser mais fácil do que pensa.

🇺🇸 A 60 years old man died in the Atlanta’s suburb two days after been hit in an incident. The hitting caused skull and legs fractures. This story has a tragic end and makes us think about how far the consequences of our reactions can go. Sadly that man won’t be able to share with us his version of the story.
Another man was driving by the street when he saw the 60 years old man stood in front of a house close to the trash cans. According to the driver the man made a move like throwing something and subsequently his car, a Mercedes, was hit by a golf ball. He drove back to the spot, had an argument with the man, who'd threw a trash can over his car. He swerved and ended up hitting another trash can. When he stopped and got out of the car, he saw the man laid down on the ground. This is the driver’s version.
The police is investigating the case now. Besides the driver’s testimony, the police has a footage of a neighbor’s camera, a calling from a witness to 911 service. The first analysis of the footage shows some contradiction of the driver’s version. Also the deceased’s brother was talking to him at the phone when the incident happened and listen part of the conversation. The incident happened on July 30. On August 12 the driver turned himself to the police after warrants against him have been issued. The driver is been charged of murder and aggravated assault. The case is going to court and the driver will plead not guilty.
It’s early to get a conclusion on what really happened, but it could ended in not a tragic way. Of course a situation like that could be easily solved with a racional conversation. That one and some many others.

🇧🇷 Um homem de 60 anos morreu nos subúrbios de Atlanta dois dias após ter sido atingido num incidente. Ele sofreu fraturas no crânio e nas pernas. Essa trágica história nos faz pensar sobre até que ponto nossas reações podem chegar. Infelizmente o homem não vai poder contar a sua versão da história.
Outro homem estava dirigindo pela rua quando viu o homem de 60 anos em frente a uma casa junto de latas de lixo. De acordo com o motorista, o homem fez um gesto de atirar algo e em seguida seu carro, uma Mercedes, foi atingido por uma bola de golfe. Ele retornou ao local e teve uma discussão com o homem, que teria jogado uma das latas de lixo no carro. Ele tentou desviar e atingiu outra lata de lixo. Quando parou e desceu do carro, viu o homem caído no chão. Esta é a versão do motorista.
A polícia está investigando o caso. Além do testemunho do motorista, a polícia tem um vídeo de uma câmera da casa vizinha e a ligação de uma testemunha para a emergência. A primeira análise do vídeo mostra alguma contradição com a versão do motorista. O irmão do falecido, que falava com ele ao telefone no momento, também ouviu parte da conversa. O incidente aconteceu em 30 de julho. Em 12 de agosto o motorista se entregou após alguns mandados de prisão. Ele está sendo acusado de assassinato e agressão grave. O caso irá a julgamento e o motorista se declara inocente.
É cedo para tirar conclusões do caso, mas poderia não ter terminado de forma trágica. Claro que é uma situação que facilmente poderia ter sido resolvida de forma racional. Essa, bem como muitas outras.

🇺🇸 Easy to get, people love to have pain killers. Any headache is a good reason to take one or two. They are harmless and let’s say, efficient. And because they are so well accepted in the market there are many different options: AM, PM, gel capsules, flavors, and different dosage. It’s almost a buffet!
But we know that pain killers are made for one purpose only: to eliminate the consequences. They can make the pain gone and we’ll never know what’s really causing the pain. We feel a relief, but we don’t know the effects the cause of the pain will have in our organism. Personally, pain killers are my last option. Sometimes I just handle the pain, while my body handles with what’s going on inside me.
I believe our body is strong enough to handle with what happens in it. Fact is that taking care of our body is still a goal to reach. We’re learning more and more and we have options to do even better. I know that there’re cases where our organism needs extra help, like a medical and hospital intervention, but usually body pains are less complicated than we assume. I wonder what happens when we take pain killers and the pain is gone, but the cause is still there. It’s like having mold in the wall of the house and just paint over it. The wall will be beautiful, but what will happen with what’s under the paint?
Maybe pain killers are inhibiting us from facing what’s really going on and keep us comfortable, like when we don’t want to face some situations in life. I’ve never seen a pain killer for that in the pharmacy!

🇧🇷 Fácil de adquirir, as pessoas amam comprar analgésico. Qualquer dor de cabeça é uma boa razão pra tomar um ou dois. São inofensivos e vamos dizer, eficientes. E porque são tão bem aceitos no mercado existem varias opções: noturno, diurno, em cápsulas de gel e doses diferentes. É quase um buffet!
Mas sabemos que remédios pra dor são feitos para um propósito apenas: eliminar as consequências. Podem fazer a dor sumir e nunca saberemos o que realmente causou a dor. Sentimos o alívio, mas não sabemos os efeitos que causam a dor no organismo. Pessoalmente, remédios para a dor são minha última opção. Às vezes eu lido com a dor, enquanto meu corpo lida com o que acontece dentro de mim.
Acredito que nosso corpo é forte o suficiente para lidar com o que acontece nele. Fato é que cuidar do corpo ainda é um objetivo a ser alcançado. Aprendemos cada vez mais e temos opções para isso. Sei que têm casos onde o organismo precisa de ajuda extra, como intervenção médica e hospitalar, mas normalmente dores no corpo são menos complicadas do que pensamos. Me admira com o que acontece quando o analgésico tira a dor, mas a causa continua lá. É como ter mofo na parede de casa e passar uma tinta por cima. A parede vai ficar linda, mas o que vai acontecer por debaixo da tinta?
Remédios pra dor estão nos mantendo confortáveis nos inibindo de enfrentar o que está acontecendo, como quando não queremos enfrentar as situações da vida. Pra isso eu nunca vi remédio na farmácia!
