CHEVROTAIN

🇺🇸 Have you ever heard about a chevrotain? Do you know what it is? I’ve heard for the first time today, the day I’m writing this text. Chevrotain is an animal, a mammal, from the Tragulidae family, which are the animals with hooves. The chevrotain’s appearance is like a mix of a deer with a mouse and they’re tiny.
 In fact chevrotains are the smallest hoofed animals in the world. Its natural habitat is in south and southeast Asia, most common in Vietnam. The silver-backed chevrotain was practically considered extinct, due to the last time a specimen was seen is 25 years ago. Now a small group os silver-backed chevrotains was photographed in Vietnam, which was a great reason of joy for the environmental groups.
 It’s hard to live in a world where the dominant specie is responsible for most of the destruction in the planet. Human beings are killing, devastating, eliminating forms of life with the minimum consideration possible. All the efforts that have been done for environmental organizations are totally worth, although for some many species it’s just not enough. But when something, like the reappearance of the silver-backed chevrotain, happens make all the efforts worthy. Isn’t how you feel when you meet with a loved friend again, after many years without seeing that friend? It’s a great pleasure to find something that was lost.
 Losses are always bringing sorrow to our life. Some losses kill hope. But as a chevrotain can reappear, hope can also be raised again in our heart. When we keep hope, we make ourselves open to surprises.

🇧🇷 Você já ouviu sobre chevrotains? Sabe o que é? A primeira vez que ouvir sobre eles foi hoje, o dia que estou escrevendo este texto. Chevrotain é um animal, mamífero, da família Tragulidae, que são animais com casco. A aparência do chevrotain é de uma mistura de veado com rato e são bem pequenos.
 Na verdade são os menores animais com casco no mundo. Seu habitat natural é o sul e sudeste da Ásia, mais em comum no Vietnã. O chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas era praticamente considerados extintos, pelo fato do último espécime ter sido visto ha 25 anos. Agora um pequeno grupo de chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas foi fotografado no Vietnã, o que se tornou motivo de muito alegria para ambientalistas.
 É difícil viver num mundo onde a espécie predominante é responsável pela maior parte da destruição do planeta. Seres humanos estão matando, devastando e eliminante formas de vida com o mínimo de consideração possível. Todos esforços feitos por organizações ambientalistas são válidos, embora para algumas espécies não suficiente. Mas quando algo, como o reaparecimento do chevrotain-de-costas-prateadas, acontece, torna todos esforços válidos. Não é como você se sente quando reencontra uma pessoa querida depois de muitos anos sem vê-la? É uma grande alegria reencontrar algo que se perdeu.
 Perdas entristecem nossa vida. Algumas matam a esperança. Assim como chevrotain reapareceu, a esperança pode ressurgir no coração. Quando mantemos a esperança, nos abrimos para surpresas.

CORNER / CANTO

🇺🇸 I become very interested in knowing more about words as I grew up. First I liked to learn the words in different languages. Then I learn about semantics, the origem of the words. I has the opportunity to study and learn a little of greek and hebrew in college and sometimes I have fun with them.
 Behind the meaning of the words there’s a lot to teach us about life, culture, behavior, important things when we’re interacting with other people, living new experiences and trying to understand things in life.
 Today I decided to write about CORNER. Being honest, I’m doing this to force myself on this work. Corner is a place or angle where two or more sides or edges meet, according to the dictionary, or a place where things or people come from, like “from all corners of the country”. We’re talking about two walls in a room, two streets in a city. We could use it as a verb too, when someone is put in a situation where it’s very hard to escape. It also means a remote place, probably where someone could be left or abandoned. This is what I’d like to say few words, the metaphorical meaning. Unfortunately people are being discriminated, avoided for no reason and we should do something to stop that. But there’s cornes inside of us, where we’re leaving feelings, dreams and hope. What’s left in the corner of your heart?
 Believe me, they’re still there, maybe surviving in a horrible condition. Who’s taking care of them? Perhaps one of them needs some attention and what surprise would be if we see that’s exactly what we need, what’s missing while we’ve been looking for in all the corners of the world!

🇧🇷 Me tornei muito interessado em conhecer mais sobre palavras à medida que cresci. Primeiro saber das palavras em outras línguas. Aí sobre semântica, a origem das palavras. Tive a oportunidade de estudar e aprender um pouco de grego e hebraico na faculdade e às vezes me divirto com elas.
 Detrás do seu significado temos muito para aprender sobre a vida, cultura e comportamento, importantes coisas ao interagirmos com outras pessoas, vivendo novas experiências e entendendo as coisas da vida.  
 Hoje resolvi escrever sobre CANTO. Na verdade estou forçando minha mente aqui. Não estou falando do verbo cantar. Canto no sentido de lugar ou ângulo onde duas partes se encontram ou lugar de onde coisas e pessoas vêm, tipo “de todos os cantos do país”. Falo de duas paredes num cômodo, de duas ruas numa cidade. Pode também compor um verbo, como "colocar alguém no canto”, pressionando ou ameaçando a pessoa. Pode ser um lugar remoto, provavelmente onde algo ou alguém é deixado ou abandonado. E queria falar sobre isso, a metáfora. Infelizmente pessoas estão sendo discriminadas, evitadas sem motivo e deveríamos impedir isso. Mas existem cantos dentro da gente, onde deixamos sentimentos, sonhos e esperanças. O que foi deixado no canto do seu coração?
 Acredite, eles ainda estão lá, talvez sobrevivendo em condições horríveis. Quem está cuidado deles? Talvez um deles precise de atenção e que surpresa não vai ser quando virmos que é exatamente do que precisamos, aquilo que está faltando, enquanto temos procurado por todos os cantos do mundo!
