HOPE AND FEAR // ESPERANÇA E MEDO

“It requires more energy to spread hope than fear”.

No, this is not a message to kill hope or motivation. This is a message to show how much we need to do to make a better world. Hope and fear are related to possibilities. Both can happen depending on what we do to allow it.

In fact, the intention here is to add a little more energy on spreading hope. Although hope and fear are possibilities, they spread in a different pace. Because our mind is more focused on defending our survival than on expanding our possibilities, we are more tempted to react to the signs of fear. Not only this, but we are also more willing to share fear to others. And so the chain of fear grows. This is why when we are trying to spread hope we need to create events, shows, invite famous people to join, use all types of media channels, develop a high level of attraction, which ends up making it more difficult.

That is why we can't give up. Maybe, if we find a better way to make our energies more productive and lasting, we can turn that game around.

“Se requer mais energia para espalhar esperança do que medo”.

Não, esta não é uma mensagem para acabar com a esperança. É uma mensagem para mostrar o quanto precisamos fazer para melhorar o mundo. Esperança e medo tem a ver com possibilidades. Ambos podem acontecer dependendo do que fizermos para permitir.

Na verdade, a intenção aqui é adicionar um pouco mais de energia em espalhar esperança. Embora sejam possibilidades, se espalham em ritmo diferente. Porque nossa mente é mais focada em defender nossa sobrevivência do que expandir nossas possibilidades, somos mais tentados a reagir aos sinais de medo. Não só isso, também somos mais dispostos a partilhar o medo com outros. Por isso quando queremos espalhar esperança temos que criar eventos, shows, convidar famosos para participar, usar todos os tipos de canais de mídia, desenvolver um alto nível de atração, o que faz ficar mais difícil.

Por isso não podemos desistir. Talvez, se acharmos uma maneira melhor de tornar nossas energias mais produtivas e duradouras, poderemos virar esse jogo.

LEARNING AND FEAR // APRENDIZADO E MEDO

“Those who learn overcome fear”.

Learning is a natural ability we have, but it doesn't mean it is easy. It is a challenge because it put us facing the unknown, some risks, some threats. In most of the time learning will face fear and that is when the big challenge happens.

Fear is what causes most difficult when we are learning. Unfortunately, we are living under the realm of fear. I am not exaggerating! Fear has put its fingerprints in every aspect of our life and it is affecting people even when they should not be afraid. Learning is a way to battle fear. When we learn we find ways, possibilities, solutions. We become stronger. We develop power. That is how we feel when we overcome fear.

When you were afraid, remember that is an opportunity to learn something. The opportunity to learn how strong you can be.

“Aqueles que aprendem superam o medo”.

Aprender é uma habilidade natural que temos, mas não quer dizer que seja fácil. É um desafio porque nos coloca diante do desconhecido, de alguns riscos e ameaças. Na maioria das vezes, aprender vai encarar o medo e esse é o grande desafio.

Medo é o que causa as maiores dificuldades quando estamos aprendendo. Infelizmente, vivemos sob o domínio do medo. Não estou exagerando! O medo colocou seus dedos em todos aspectos da vida e está afetando pessoas até quando elas não deveriam ter medo. Aprender é uma maneira de lutar contra o medo. Encontramos caminhos, possibilidades, soluções. Nos tornamos mais fortes. Desenvolvemos poder. É como nos sentimos quando superamos o medo.

Quando estiver com medo, lembre que é uma oportunidade para aprender algo. A oportunidade de aprender o quão forte você pode ser.

POST OFFICE E-MAILS // E-MAILS DOS CORREIOS

🇺🇸 Since e-mails became popular people changed the way they used to contact each other. The amount of mailing dropped considerably due to the easiness of send instant messages, letters and cards. Still there’s a huge volume of letters being mailed and the Post Office is trying to keep up with the competition.
 Now the USPS is doing something that is very interesting showing their effort to better connect with customers. They are sending daily e-mails showing what kind of mailing we are receiving during the day. They are using the same exact tool that cause them to lose service to increase customer satisfaction and to keep relevant in the market. We can enroll for this service in the USPS website.
 Every day they care to scan every envelop and package that is mailed to my address, attach them to an e-mail and send it to me.They call it Informed Delivery Daily Digest, and the e-mail is sent before 7:30AM. I’m not sure if this kind of service is offered by the post office in other countries. Anyway, I think beside being something good it can makes think about something else. Everybody faces problems in life and usually we try to avoid what causes problems. But sometimes we can turn those bad things into positive ones. Do you know that story about lemons and lemonade? It’s possible to change the game to our favor.
 Maybe you should spend more energy training your mind to see positive possibilities before start to complain about bad things happening to you. I really believe that all things work together for good.

🇧🇷 Desde que e-mails se tornaram populares pessoas mudaram a maneira de contactar com as outras. A quantidade de correspondência caiu devido à facilidade que mandar mensagens instantâneas. Ainda existe um grande volume de cartas sendo enviadas e os correios se empenham em continuar vivos.
 Agora os correios nos EUA estão fazendo algo interessante, mostrando seu empenho para manter os clientes. Estão enviando um e-mail diário mostrando qual tipo de correspondência vamos receber no dia. Estão usando a mesma ferramenta que fez com eles perdessem serviço para aumentar a satisfação dos clientes e continuarem relevantes no mercado. É só se registrar no site dos correios dos EUA.
 Cada dia eles têm o cuidado de escanear cada envelope e pacote enviado ao meu endereço, anexar no e-mail e mandar pra mim. Eles chamam de Informativo de Entrega Diária e o e-mail chega antes das 07:30. Não sei se esse serviço também é oferecido no Brasil. De qualquer maneira, acho que além de ser algo bom, também nos faz pensar. Todos enfrentamos problemas na vida e normalmente tentamos evitar o que causa esses problemas. Mas, às vezes, podemos transformar coisas ruins em positivas. Sabe a história de fazer limonada com os limões da vida? Dá pra virar o jogo ao nosso favor.
 Você poderia gastar mais energia em treinar sua mente para ver possibilidades positivas antes de começar a reclamar de tudo que acontece. Creio realmente que todas as coisas cooperam para o bem.

CONFUSION // CONFUSÃO

🇺🇸 Sometimes I like to play with words. I play specially when I write my texts. For me playing with words is to explore all possibilities with them. This is important when we want to say more using less words. That’s the nature of seeds. One seed can multiply itself and generate more than one sprout.
 There’s also another interesting characteristic in nature. It’s possible to joint different plants. We call it grafting. Like we can have a rootstock, which is the lower part of the three, from a lime tree, while the upper part, the scion, can be an orange tree. They do that to better develop the plant. We can do the same thing with words and give them a broader meaning. It’s also funny to play with their meaning.
 Usually words are combinations of two or three words. Like today’s word CONFUSION. That’s easy. We understand confusion as a mess or a misunderstanding. But when we look to the roots of the word we’ll see something particular. The roots come from latin con, meaning “with” and fusio “to blend, to mix”. The original meaning is to combine two different things in one, like a fusion, fusing one thing with another. And that’s why it’s a confusion, because after the fusion we can’t tell what’s one thing and what’s the other. Once everything is mixed it turned into a confusion. Sometimes even easy things can makes us confuse.
 We’ll see situations when life brings new possibilities. Sometimes two or more situations will be jointed, to turn the opportunity into something bigger. Maybe it will look like a mess, but don’t get yourself confused!

🇧🇷 Às vezes gosto de brincar com as palavras. Especialmente quando escrevo meus textos. Pra mim é explorar todas as suas possibilidades. Isso é importante quando queremos dizer mais com menos palavras. Essa é a natureza da semente. Uma semente pode se multiplicar e gerar vários brotos.
 Também existe outra característica interessante na natureza. É possível juntar plantas diferentes. Chamamos isso de enxerto. Podemos ter uma base de limoeiro com uma árvore de laranjeira. Assim se tenta o melhor possível para fazer a planta se desenvolver. Podemos fazer o mesmo com as palavras e dar a elas um significado mais amplo. Também me divirto brincando com o seu significado.
 É comum formar palavras com junção de duas ou mais. Como a palavra de hoje CONFUSÃO. Essa é fácil. Entendemos que confusão é uma bagunça ou mal-entendido. Mas quando olhamos na raiz, vemos algo interessante. A raiz vem do latim con, que significa “junto” e fusio, “mesclar, misturar”. O significado original é combinar duas coisas diferentes em uma, como uma fusão, fundindo uma na outra. Por isso é uma confusão, porque depois da fusão não dá pra dizer o que é um e o que é outro. Depois que tudo é misturado vira uma confusão. Às vezes mesmo coisas simples podem nos deixar confusos.
 A vida vai trazer situações com novas possibilidades. Às vezes duas ou mais situações vão se juntar, e tornar a oportunidade ainda maior. Talvez pareça uma bagunça, só tenha cuidado pra não se confundir!

CHILD // CRIANÇA

🇺🇸 One of the things I like about words is that they are not finished. There’s still a possibility to a new word being adopt, according to the need. Usually a new word comes from a naming an action that became popular or common or adopting a local version of that word from another language.
 It’s a process related to production, growth, that’s why words have everything to do with a plantation. And even more! Words are related to life and everyone of them gives birth to a special meaning and purpose. Just like a new life. That’s the reason today’s word is CHILD. Being named, adopted, grown, generated, all related to words and related to child as well. Two of the most precious treasures in this world.
 The word child comes from the Old English cild, “fetus”, which comes from the Proto-germanic kiltham, which means “womb”. In fact this expression kiltham means literally “child home”. A child is completely connected with life, but in special the begin of life. Not a life that appears from nothing, at once, but a life that’s been cared, cherished, protected, nurtured and expected. Everybody loves the birth of a child, to see a child growing. As they grow they can bring new perspective to every aspect of life. New discoveries, new sensations, new ideas, new actions. They are responsible for most of changes in the world.
 A child is the best representation of live. The only difference is that, in life we can be reborn anytime. Sometimes we simply forget how amazing is the privilege of being alive!

🇧🇷 Uma das coisas que gosto sobre palavras é que elas não esgotam. Sempre existe a possibilidade de uma nova palavra surgir ou ser adotada. Normalmente uma nova palavra vem de nomear uma ação popular e comum, ou adotada de outra língua na versão local. Exemplo: empoderamento.
 É um processo ligado à produção, crescimento, por isso palavras têm tudo a ver com plantação. E ainda mais! Palavras têm a ver com vida e cada uma delas da vida a significados e propósitos especiais. Assim como uma nova vida. Por isso a palavra de hoje é CRIANÇA. Sendo nomeada, adotada, crescendo, gerando, tudo tem a ver com palavras e com criança também. Dois dos mais preciosos tesouros.
 A palavra criança vem do latim e é a junção de dois termos: creare, “criar” e antia, que é um sufixo que indica um estado, uma condição de ação. Portanto, criança tem o sentido de algo que foi criado e que permanece num processo dinâmico e constante, como uma criação contínua. Não se trata de um ato momentâneo, instantâneo, mas algo que é cuidado, amparado, protegido, nutrido e esperado. Todos amam o nascimento de um bebê, ver uma criança crescer. À medida que crescem dão nova perspectiva a cada aspecto da vida. Elas são responsáveis pela maioria das mudanças no mundo.
 Uma criança é a melhor representação da vida. A única diferença é que, na vida podemos renascer qualquer momento. Às vezes simplesmente esquecemos quão incrível é o privilégio de viver!

HOPING, BUT NOT BELIEVING / ESPERANDO, MAS NÃO ACREDITANDO

🇺🇸 So you go to the supermarket, it’s time to refill your pantry and you get excited there. You keep trowing boxes, bags, packages in the kart, all you think you gonna need, for a while. You leave the building with the good feeling that you did great, in spite of the high prices. Next step is to pack everything inside your cabinets, pantry and freezer. Items start to be pile up on shelves, and then the last frontier: the freezer. You open the door and see that it isn't empty. You forgot to check on it before and now have to fit all the things you just bought inside there too. You hope you can do it, but you don’t believe it will be possible.
 Hope is a strong feeling. It moves a lot of people to fulfill dreams, solve problems and improve life. It’s interesting the way hope influences people’s life. What is hope? It’s a strong assurance? A feeling or a thought? Why it creates this powerful conviction about things that haven’t happened yet? People start to wish for things and to say to themselves that they are going to come through.
 Sometimes we hope, but deep in our heart we don’t believe. It’s a dilema. We see things, we see possibilities and then we look to reality and see no ways for that to become real. Let’s be honest, it’s not just because we hope that what we’re expecting is going to happen. So believing is a huge part of the deal. To believe makes us to do something about it. So which one do you thing is stronger, hope ou faith? Which of them we should invest more? Which one has more power over the other? 
 It’s so good when we can close the freezer door with all the things inside of it! By the way, watch the video I posted here. It’s a good example of what I’m saying.

🇧🇷 Você vai ao supermercado, é hora de reabastecer a casa e você se empolga lá. Vai jogando caixas, sacos e pacotes no carrinho, tudo que acha que vai precisar, por um tempo. Sai da loja com a sensação que fez muito bem, apensar dos altos preços. Próximo passo é guardar tudo dentro dos armários, geladeira e congelador. Vai empilhando tudo nas prateleiras, até a última etapa: o congelador. Abre a porta e vê que não está vazio. Você esqueceu de checar antes de sair e agora tem que encaixar também todas as coisas que comprou dentro dele. Você espera conseguir, mas não acredita que vai ser possível.
 Esperança é um sentimento forte. Move as pessoas para realizar os sonhos, resolver problemas e melhorar a vida. É interessante como ela influencia a vida. O que é esperança? É uma certeza forte? Sentimento ou pensamento? Por que cria essa convicção sobre coisas que ainda não aconteceram? Pessoas começam a desejar coisas e dizer a si mesmas que elas vão se tornar realidade.
 As vezes esperamos, mas no fundo do coração não acreditamos. É um dilema. Vemos as coisas, vemos as possibilidades e então vemos a realidade e não vemos como acontecer. Vamos ser honestos, não é só porque temos esperança, que as coisas vão acontecer. Acreditar é uma parte muito importante do negócio. Acreditar nos faz agir. Então, qual dos dois você acha que é mais forte, esperança ou fé? Em qual dos dois devemos investir mais? Qual dos dois tem maior influência sobre o outro?
 Ë tão bom quando a gente consegue fechar a porta do congelador com tudo dentro! Aliás, assista o vídeo que eu postei aqui. É um bom exemplo do que falei.
