🇺🇸 A lot of people are not familiarized with the concept of eating meal paid-by-pound. It’s a very interest concept to have a nice meal and not worry if you paid too much for the food you ate. There’s some situation where at the beginning is wonderful, but after eating you feel like you paid more that you ate.
This concept of pay-per-pound buffet was invented in Brazil and became very popular there. In Brazilian culture the meal, specially lunch time, is a special occasion. Brazilians can’t live with the idea of “food was't enough”. Tables must to be full of every kind of food and people must eat as much as they can handle and there’d be always someone asking you to eat “a little bit more” and giving you a portion to go.
The problem is that an all-you-can-eat buffet is expensive, because there’s a lot of wasting and the owner has to add that in the price and most of the people is not crazy hungry to eat all. So someone in somewhere came up with this very creative idea of you put what is enough for you in your plate, weight it and pay for the proportion. If you eat more you pay more, if less you pay less. Everybody wins. Some people consider life as a competition, which isn’t. Life is sharing, because someone’s defeat can mean something bad even for the winner. If you’re looking for a better way of living, win-win is the way.
That’s possible, but is difficult. When we have a big plate in our hands we have the temptation to fill every inch of it with food. Like being in front a buffet, win-win requires us to give up some food we don’t need.

🇧🇷 Fora do Brasil as pessoas não estão muito familiarizadas com a idéia de comer comida por quilo. Pelo menos não nos Estados Unidos. Acho que é uma questão mais de cultura mesmo. Alguns se familiarizam mais fácil, enquanto outros resistem. A idéia é muito boa e deixa uma sensação de justiça.
Não sei dizer quem inventou nem onde foi inventado, mas no pouco que pesquisei deu pra notar que é algo realmente relacionado com a cultura brasileira. Essa coisa que brasileiros têm de fartura na hora da refeição, de que é melhor sobrar do que faltar. Pagar por quilo ajuda a aliviar a sensação não tão agradável que se tem quando, depois de pagar a conta, pensar que pagou bem mais do que comeu.
O problema com os serviços de buffet é o desperdício de comida. No final a comida que não se come tem que ser incluída no preço também. Nem todo mundo come “feito um condenado” pra fazer valer tudo que pagou. Já pra quem come pouco não compensa. Nessa caso, tranquiliza a cabeça de todo mundo, por saber que o que foi pago foi proporcional ao que se comeu. Todo mundo sai ganhando. Alguns consideram a vida como uma competição, mas não é. Viver é partilhar, porque a derrota de alguém pode também causar mal ao vencedor. Pra quem quer uma maneira melhor de viver, “ganha-ganha” é opção.
É possível, mas é difícil. Quando temos um prato grande nas mãos somos tentados a encher ele com comida. Como estar diante de um buffet, ganha-ganha requer abrir mão da comida que não precisamos.

🇺🇸 Do you know people wonder what would be the best version of life, the real or the fantasy? Every day we’ve seen that the reality is being taken by the virtuality and this is another huge challenge we’ll have to face and watch from now on. The newer generation will tell the story.
When virtuality turns into reality it goes to the news. Brendon Leigh is the two times F1 Esportes world champion. He won in 2017 and 2018. In 2019 he was hired by a real race team in England to drive one of the cars as a real pilot. He went to the tests, three race competition. On the first race he finished in forth and on the second race he crashed the car. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not kiboshing the guy here, even legend pilots crashed their cars too. Let’s be positive, and take this experience to think a little.
It’s obviously that reality and fantasy are not the same. It’s one thing to be in front of a big screen, or dealing with fake money, or playing a character in a RPG, but get into the real experience, with the tension, the pressure, the emotional, financial and physical impacts can result into something completely different. The truth is that we are facing a time when we’ll need to deeply understand these two dimensions so we’ll be able to incorporate one to another with the less damage possible. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a story which is going to be told in the future. Let’s keep wishing for the best.
All the things will happen in reality level. People are allowed to play their games, have fun, if they like it. But when your car spins in the track, you won’t care about the seat belt if you’re seated in the couch.

🇧🇷 Você sabe que tem gente que questiona qual seria a melhor versão da vida, a real ou a fantasia? Cada dia temos visto que a realidade está sendo tomada pela virtualidade e este é outro grande desafio que teremos que enfrentar e assistir daqui pra frente. A nova geração vai nos contar a história.
Quando virtualidade se torna realidade vira notícia. Brendon Leigh é o bi campeão mundial de F1 Esportes. Ele venceu em 2017 e 2018. Em 2019 foi contratado por uma equipe de corrida na Inglaterra para dirigir um dos carros como piloto de verdade. Foi para os testes, três corridas. Na primeira ele terminou em quarto e na segunda ele bateu. Não me leve a mal. Não estou azarando o rapaz, mesmo porque grandes pilotos também bateram seus carros. Vamos ser positivos e pensar um pouco aqui.
É óbvio que realidade e fantasia não são a mesma coisa. Uma coisa é estar em frente à tela, ou lidar com dinheiro de brincadeira, ou ser um personagem de RPG, mas viver a experiência de verdade, com a tensão, a pressão, o impacto emocional, financeiro e físico pode dar um resultado bem diferente. A verdade é que estamos enfrentando um tempo quando precisaremos entender profundamente essas duas dimensões e sabermos incorporar uma na outra tendo o mínimo de prejuízo possível. Como eu mencionei antes, essa história será contada no futuro. Vamos continuar torcendo pelo melhor.
Tudo acontece no nível real. Pessoas podem jogar seu jogos, se divertirem, se quiserem. Mas quando seu carro rodar na pista, você não vai se importar com o cinto de segurança se estiver sentado no sofá.
