PEDESTAL

🇺🇸 Words have their own specie, like seeds. We have nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, prefix and suffix. Grammar wasn’t one of my strengths in school, although I like to pay attention to words. We can plant different kinds of apple, we can see the same characteristic in words.
 Today’s word is PEDESTAL. Pedestals were a characteristic of the Roman architecture. They like to build columns and arches. To give a better sustention for the columns they built a base, usually squared, where the column was stood upon. They called this base piedistallo, which means “footstall”. They made it strong enough to support the weight. It became a requirement for every column in every built building.
 Another important detail is that the pedestals should have a proportional measurement with the columns. So they ended up being part of the architecture, better than just a structural support. The columns were the most admired part in the construction, only because the pedestals gave them support. Pedestals represent every kind of support, for microphones, for winners, trophies and works of art. In life it’s the same. Most of what people see is not what makes us strong. Our strength comes from the foundation of our life. It’s what we put in our mind that gives us the support for all kind of our accomplishments.
 So many people are more concerned about the exterior appearance, while the base of their life is weak. What kind of structure are you giving to the columns people see in your life? Something to be considered.

🇧🇷 Palavras têm sua própria espécie, como sementes. São nomes, verbos, adjetivos, pronomes, advérbios, preposições, prefixos e sufixos. Gramática nunca foi meu forte na escola, mas eu presto atenção nas palavras. Podemos plantar diferentes tipos de maçãs e ver diferentes características nas palavras.
 A palavra de hoje é PEDESTAL. Pedestais eram uma característica da arquitetura romana. Eles gostavam de colunas e arcos. Para dar sustentação às colunas eles construíam uma base, quadrada, onde a coluna era apoiada. A base era chamada piedistallo, que significa “lugar para o pé”. Era forte o suficiente para suportar o peso. Se tornou um requerimento para cada coluna de cada construção.
 Outro detalhe importante é que os pedestais deveriam ter a medida proporcional às colunas. Assim eles se tornaram parte da arquitetura, mais do que um suporte estrutural. As colunas eram a parte mais admirada da construção, só porque os pedestais estavam lá dando suporte. Pedestais representam todo tipo de suporte, seja para microfones, para vencedores, troféus e obras de arte. Na vida é o mesmo. A parte que os outros vêem em nós não é a mais forte. Nossa força vem do fundamento da nossa vida. O que você coloca na mente é que vai dar o suporte para todo tipo de realização na sua vida.
 Tanta gente se preocupa mais com a aparência, enquanto a base da sua vida é fraca. Que tipo de estrutura você está dando para as colunas que os outros vêem na sua vida? É algo pra se pensar.

SUMMIT / CUME

🇺🇸 It’s been funny to pick words as seeds to plant them here. Any word can be used and it’s also been a challenge to take something interesting out of them using only few words. I feel like as the same time I’m trying to pick words, I’m digging deeper in the field of my brain so they can sprout as much as they can.
 Today’s word is SUMMIT. I like how easy some words bring images to our mind. This is one of them. I can picture the summit of a mountain and I can see in my mind the view like I was there in the top. I’ll tell you this, it doesn’t matter the point I am in the image, it’s always beautiful. I like heights. It’s one of the best feelings I have and I really wish I could fly. A summit also means an encounter of leadership, like a conference or convention, where leaders can discuss about some topics.
 It’s always an adventure the pursuit to reach the summit. Sometimes it goes too far. I’ve read stories about people who died trying to get into the top of mountains, like Everest. That one must be amazing, the top of the tops! The fact is that it doesn’t matter how high it is, to reach the top takes effort always. It’s a very rewarded feeling seeing things from the highest perspective. And once you’re there the next step is always downwards. Yea, like you didn’t see that coming. This is so intriguing! How to deal with that? That’s why being in the top requires an emotional strength to face the possibility of starting going down.
 Although it’s very hard to get at the top, the way down is even harder, physically and emotionally. When we want to be there, we should reach the summit of our heart. We can see beautiful things from there too.

🇧🇷 Tem sido legal escolher palavras para plantá-las aqui. Qualquer palavra pode ser usada e traz o desafio de tirar algo de interessante dela usando poucas palavras. Sinto que ao mesmo tempo que procuro as palavras, estou cavoucando fundo no meu cérebro para que elas possam brotar o máximo possível.
 A palavra de hoje é CUME. Gosto como algumas palavras trazem imagens à mente. Esta é uma delas. Da pra imaginar o cume de um monte e também a vista como se estivesse lá em cima. Vou dizer uma coisa, não importa o ângulo da imagem, é sempre lindo. Gosto de alturas. É uma das melhores sensações que tenho e realmente gostaria de poder voar. Cume também da sentido de alcançar o sucesso, a condição mais elevada, o momento de melhor performance.
 É sempre uma aventura tentar alcançar o topo. Às vezes até demais. Já li histórias de pessoas que morreram tentando chegar no cume de montanhas, como o Everest. Aquele deve ser sensacional, o cume dos cumes! O fato é que não importa quão alto seja, alcançar o topo requer esforço sempre. É uma sensação muito recompensadora ver as coisas pelo alto. E quando você chega lá o próximo passo é sempre pra baixo. Pois é, não estava pensando nisso, né? É intrigante! Como lidar com isso? Por isso estar no topo requer força emocional para enfrentar a possibilidade de começar a ir pra baixo.  
 Embora seja difícil chegar no topo, é mais difícil o caminho pra baixo, física e emocionalmente. Se queremos estar lá, devemos alcançar o cume do nosso coração. Dá pra ver coisas lindas de lá também.
