🇺🇸 Being a leaderactive is to bring the leadership to the ultimate level, which is creating movement. That’s the reason leaders influence people and motivate them to action. When people start to do something towards a purpose a movement is create to change the current status to a better one.
When creating movement we have to avoid the risk to loose direction and to get where we don’t want to. We need to evaluate where we are going and to perform a good evaluation we need to do a good data analysis. Starting with the collection of the data, the registration, the measurement, the classification, the organization, the reading, the selection and the application. Every step will guide us to where we want.
Of course, it’s not as simple as it looks. We can do all of these and still being misguided. The data has no power to tell us what it does mean. We have to develop the ability of interpreting the data, because we can look to the data and see one thing, but depending of the context it can mean a different thing. I have a sofa bed at home, and it can help to understand what I’m saying. Looking to it I see a sofa, I can sit and use it as a sofa, but I can work on it and unfold it and have a bed in case I want to lay down. Depending on the context it can give me a different result. Not always a data is saying what it really represents.
At the end this is not only important in business or creating movement. It’s important in situations of life. How many times did your first look of something give you a different perspective than it really was? .

🇧🇷 Ser um liderativo é trazer a liderança ao nível mais alto, que é criar movimento. Essa é a razão dos líderes influenciarem pessoas e motiva-las para ação. Quando pessoas começam a fazer algo em direção ao propósito, um movimento é criado para mudar a condição atual para outra que seja melhor.
Quando criamos movimento temos que evitar o risco de perder a direção e acabar onde não queríamos. Precisamos avaliar pra onde vamos e para realizar uma boa avaliação precisamos de uma boa análise de dados. Começando com a coleta dos dados, o registro, a medição, a classificação, a organização, a leitura, a seleção e a aplicação. Cada etapa vai nos guiar para onde queremos chegar.
Claro que não é simples como parece. Podemos fazer tudo isso e ainda perder o rumo. Os dados não têm o poder de dizer o que significam. Temos que desenvolver a habilidade de interpreta-los, porque podemos olhar e ver uma coisa, mas dependendo do contexto pode significar outra. Tenho um sofá-cama em casa e ele pode nos ajudar a entender o que estou dizendo. Olho pra ele e vejo um sofá, posso sentar e usar como sofá, mas posso mexer nele e abrir e ter uma cama no caso de querer deitar. Dependendo do contexto tenho um resultado diferente. Nem sempre os dados dizem o que representam.
No final, isso não é só importante nos negócios ou criando movimento. É importante nas situações da vida. Quantas vezes já olhou para uma situação e teve uma perspectiva diferente do que realmente era?

🇺🇸 That’s true, people are still using calculators. It seems like that the smartphones would take their place, but not entirely. Professionally, sophisticated calculators are doing their jobs, like with engineers and accountants, although app versions of graphing and scientific calculators are available.
Today’s word in my plantation is CALCULATOR. At fist, I was not too excited to write about it, until I did some research on it. The origem of the word is latin calculatus, which means “to reckon or compute”, and comes from calculus, which means "to count". In ancient times the way they registered numbers was through little pebbles, like limestones. They separate the pebbles to register the amount which was counting. Those pebbles were called calculus, diminutive of calx. That’s why we refer to kidney stones as calculus. Calx, by its turn, comes from creta, which means “to mix with chalk”, and now we understand the word “concrete". So since the beginning to calculate was related to something exact and solid.
I like those kinds of trip. I still can remember the first time I played with a calculator. My father had a small Casio calculator and I learned how to use it. I was probably 6-7 years old, and maybe there’s from I got the interesting for electronics and stuff. To calculate is not the most desirable exercise for some people, maybe a lot of people. There’re things in life we just have to do, even when we have no idea we’re doing.
You can think you’re not using numbers, but every time you evaluate life and make decisions you are calculating. To put few pebbles apart from another, is like saying: this is exactly the best thing for my life.

Profissionalmente, calculadoras sofisticadas estão trabalhando, com engenheiros e contadores, embora versões de aplicativos para calculadoras gráficas e científicas estejam disponíveis.
A palavra de hoje na plantação é CALCULADORA. A princípio, não estava animado pra escrever sobre isso, até fazer umas pesquisas. A origem é o latim calculatus, que significa “registrar, computar”. Calculatus vem de caulculus, que significa “contar”. Nos tempos antigos eles registravam números com pedrinhas de calcário. Eles separavam as pedras para registrar as quantidades que estavam sendo contadas. Essas pedrinhas era chamadas de calculus, diminutivo de calx. Por isso referimos à pedra no rim como cálculo. Calx, por sua vez, vem de creta, que quer dizer “misturar com cal” e agora entendemos a palavra “concreta”. Portanto, desde o começo calcular estava relacionada com algo exato e sólido.
Gosto dessas viagens. Ainda lembro a primeira vez que mexi numa calculadora. Meu pai tinha uma pequena calculadora da Casio e aprendi a usa-la. Eu tinha de 6-7 anos, e pode ser que foi dali que veio meu gosto coisas eletrônicas. Calcular não é a prática mais desejável para algumas pessoas, talvez para muitas pessoas. Têm coisas na vida que temos que fazer, mesmo que não percebamos que façamos.
Você pode achar que não está usando números, mas sempre que avalia a vida e toma decisões, você está calculando. Separar umas pedrinhas das outras é como dizer: isso é exatamente o melhor para minha vida.
