🇺🇸 A story about a girl from Papua New Guinea was released by Time magazine. They named her Justice, protecting her real identity. She’s now is 7 years old and two years ago she was accused, imprisoned and tortured by the villagers where she used to live, because they considered her as a witch.
The population in the village chased her, accusing her to be the responsible for her cousin’s illness. They thought that Justice stole the cousin’s heart which they assumed was the reason for her illness. Justice was hung by the wrists and ankles, spanked, she had part of her skin peeled with heated machetes and the leg passed through by a knife. She was tortured through the whole night until 5am next morning.
Her terrible story reveals how much our world is still influenced for strong actions of intolerance. Unfortunately Justice’s life is marked with other tragedy. Her mother was also accused of sorcery and being the responsible for a child’s death. She was attacked with machetes and burned alive. After the mother’s murder, Justice was relocated to her uncle’s place, but the rumor spread and they chased her there too. Today, Justice is under the guardian of the director of the NGO that provides help to the population in Papua New Guinea. She’s being assisted and helped to rebuild her life.
If you are shocked with this story as I am, don’t start to blame the other country’s culture, unless you’re sure that we don’t do nothing similar to that. The real justice works to turn evil into good.

A população da vila perseguiu ela, acusando que ela era a responsável pela doença da sua prima. Pensaram que Justice tinha roubado o coração da prima, o que pra eles era a razão da sua doença. Justice foi pendurada pelos pulsos e tornozelos, espancada, parte de pele decepada com machados e a perna traspassada por uma faca. Foi torturada durante toda a noite até às 5 da manhã seguinte.
Sua terrível história revela o quanto nosso mundo ainda é influenciado por fortes atos de intolerância. Infelizmente a vida de Justice é marcada por outra tragédia. Sua mãe também foi acusada de feitiçaria e ser a responsável pela morte de uma criança. Ela foi atacada com machados e queimada vida. Depois do assassinato da mãe, Justice foi levada para a cada do tio, mas o rumor se espalhou e perseguiram ela lá também. Hoje, Justice está sob a guarda da diretora de uma das ONGs que oferece ajuda para a população em Papua Nova Guiné. Está sendo amparada e ajudada a reconstruir sua vida.
Se você está em choque, como eu, por essa história, não condene a cultura de outro país, a menos que tenha certeza de não fazer nada parecido. A verdadeira justiça trabalha para transformar o mal em bem.
